Member’s Guide

Photos & Social Media Policy

As a community organization, we like to stay in touch with our members through social media.

We understand that not all members are comfortable or in agreement with their photos or those of their children being published on our website or social media platforms.

If for any reason you prefer that your photo or that of a member of your family not be published, simply provide us with a photo of each member of your family with their names. You can contact communications@piscinevikingpool.ca

Food & Allergy Policy

Although there are no rules regarding food at the pool, we ask you to be respectful of members with allergies.

Please keep your food stored and covered whenever possible. And when you’ve finished eating, place all waste in the appropriate bins.

Glass bottles and jars are always prohibited.

Membership cards & Stickers

    • You will need your Multi-card with a sticker for admission to the pool all summer. Please note you must have your card present to receive the sticker.

Safety

For your own safety, please advise the pool staff of any medical conditions you may have (asthma, heart problems, allergies, etc.).
Lifeguards are at the pool for our safety. Please obey them at all times.
Non-swimmers must be accompanied in the water by a parent or guardian at all times (including anyone wearing a floating device such as a bubble, floats, etc.).
Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
When lifeguards hear thunder or lightning, swimmers must immediately leave the pool and stay away from the water (including showers) for at least 30 minutes.
In the event of a power failure, the pool may remain open for only 2 hours after the start of the blackout. After 2 hours, water quality may be questionable. Consequently, the pool must be closed.

General

Behaviour that puts the safety of any person at risk will not be tolerated. Persons who do so may be asked to leave the pool. Members are responsible for the behaviour and safety of their families and guests.
Smoking is not permitted in the pool area.
Food may be eaten on the pool deck or lawn. Eating and drinking in the pool is prohibited. Please dispose of garbage immediately and properly.
Bringing glass containers and alcoholic beverages is prohibited, unless authorized by the LHRA for a special event.
Soccer shoes and in-line skates may not be worn in the pool area.
For your safety, bicycles are not allowed in the pool area. They must be locked to the racks provided outside the pool.
Neither the LHRA nor its staff is responsible for lost, stolen or damaged items. A lost and found bin is available and will be cleaned and emptied periodically.

POOL CLOSURES sometimes sometimes occur for ALPS competitions including, but not limited to, swim meets, diving meets, water-polo games and special events. Please check social media, website and the notice boards for pool closures and schedule changes due to competitive or social events.  Sunnyside will usually be open even when there is an event at Viking.

FREE SWIM is open to all members and paying guests. When a lifeguard calls “BOARDS,” members can only use the deep end if they are going off the diving boards. When “FREE DEEP” is called, members can swim in the deep end but they cannot use the diving boards.

ADULT SWIM is open to any member 18 years of age or over.

BABY POOL is for children 6 years of age and under. While your child is in the baby pool, you or your babysitter must be within the enclosed area to supervise your own child. In addition, a lifeguard will remain in the baby pool area during its hours of operation.

BICYCLE RACKS are available just outside the pool gate. We strongly suggest that you lock your bike with a secure lock. The pool cannot be held responsible for lost or stolen property.

GATE GUARDING is done by our Leaders!  They must be 12 years and older and/or who have completed grade 6.  They ensure that only members and their paying guests use the pool facilities.
